Natural gemstones last generations with a little care. Follow these simple steps to keep your stones bright and protected.

Clean gently

For most stones, clean with lukewarm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft brush. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and household cleaners.

Avoid ultrasonic cleaners on delicate stones

Emeralds are often oiled and can be damaged by ultrasonic or steam cleaning. Opal, Pearl and Turquoise are porous and should never be soaked — wipe them gently instead.

Store separately

Keep each piece in its own soft pouch so harder stones don't scratch softer ones. Store away from direct heat and sunlight, which can fade some stones over time.

Everyday wear

Remove rings before washing dishes, applying perfume or lotions, and doing heavy work. Put jewellery on last when getting ready, and take it off first.
